Video Spotlight: Juken vs. Tanken

Recorded at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo on the 6th of August, this is an ishujiai demonstration between juken and tanken (detached bayonet).

Sato Toru sensei (8-dan hanshi, from Fukushima) is with the juken, and Sasaki Masayohi sensei (8-dan Kyoushi, from Osaka) is with the tanken. The juken wins by 2 doh.

OKF Junior Event - Sunday, September 19

I am pleased to announce that the Ontario Kendo Federation Junior Traveling Keiko event will be held on Sunday September 19th.

It will be hosted by the Etobicoke Kendo Club. Junior players from all Ontario Kendo dojos are invited to come together for this fun day of Kendo activities. The details are as attached.

Dear kendoda,
The J.C.C.C. Annual Junior Kendo Camp will be held on July 29-Aug 2 at JCCC Kendo Club.
The camp is intended for youth to improve their kendo skills and to expose participants to advanced skills for kendo. Team building and fitness training will be incorporated into the camp. There will also be fun evening activities!
We want to invite you and your club members to join us at this year camp. We are looking forward to hear from you.

Women’s Kendo Practice: June 26

Ontario Kendo Federation will be holding its next women's practice on Saturday June 26 12~2pm at Ryerson Kendo Club.

The practice will be held at the Ryerson Athletic Facility.

Entry is through the front desk, and anyone participating will be required to fill out a waiver form.

The finals of the 8th annual 8-dan kendo championships, held in Nagoya on the 18th of April, 2010. Finals between Funatsu Shinji, 54, of Osaka (winner in 2007) vs. Sato of Hyogo, 57.

JCCC Junior Kendo Tournament

Dear kendoka, The JCCC Kendo Club will be hosting the 2010 Spring Junior Kendo Tournament. This year, the tournament will again be held at the Kobayashi Hall at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre on Sunday May 30, 2010 scheduled to begin at 9:30am.
